Recommendations for Best Practices

This tool is meant to be used in conjunction with your current publishing strategies for maximum reach. Here are some top considerations to help you do just that:

  • Set up a separate magazine (or more) to funnel your new flips into with an RSS feed. If you want to add this RSS feed to a current magazine already connected to your website, you will need to use the RSS combiner since two feeds cannot be added to one magazine.

  • Generate flips in real time and manually add them to relevant magazines.

  • Focus on scheduling flips for the times of day when your Flipboard followers are most engaged. No specific times are recommended for Flipboard, but generally, the best social media post times involve the evenings around 7 p.m. Because these are app-based mediums, this is the time of day when people are scrolling and looking for entertainment. (See more data from Coschedule here.) The best way to know is to look at your own real-time analytics (people use Clicky, Plausible, etc.) and see what time of day spikes in traffic and monopolize them.

  • A great strategy to consider is to curate your top posts from the past month and drip them out as โ€œnewโ€ content into your designated magazine (perhaps a trending or top articles magazine). This prevents too much of the same content from being shared on your profile all at once, providing a better user experience.
